Daniel Dlimi quits Aeon

Daniel Dlimi / SchecterGuitarist and co-songwriter Daniel Dlimi has decided to leave Aeon after 12 years within the band.

Here is Daniel’s own words about his departure.

“It’s with a heavy heart that i finally have decided to call it quits. Why?!? I simply cant afford doing this no more. To tour with a band in our size, you actually loose money on each and every tour. For us, the expenses is always higher then the income, and if that wasn’t enough, i also need to take time of from my daytime job which means absolutely no income at all during the period of a tour plus the extra expenses i get from the tour that does not get covered by the tour-income. You see where this is going?

We have done four tours this year alone and each one of them have made us loose money. I have actually NEVER done a single tour and made a single dime in the end of the day. I am actually paying money to do shows for you guys. And the saddest thing about this is that the industry expects you to do so. Something must be seriously fucked up when for example the driver, the sound guy, the merch guy, the tour manager etc makes more money on a tour compared to bands on the bill that is not headlining?!?

The one thing i love doing the most with my band is actually being on stage performing for you guys. But my passion for the music simply won’t pay my bills. And as we all know, the record industry is suffering as hell and the record sales are lower then ever. So the only way to grow your band bigger is to do new albums and tour like hell… If you are lucky enough, one day you will be at a level where you actually get paid for you job, And like i said, i can’t afford doing all the tours required to maybe one day be a big enough name to do headline tours and actually make money out of it.

Neither do i see an option to stay with Aeon and only record albums since the reward for me with doing an album is to actually perform the songs on stage. And if i can’t do that, there is simply no point for me to go on.

So with this being said, i am now leaving the world as a “professional” musician. Because you are considered to be a professional musician if you have released 4 albums world wide and toured Europe, US, and Japan right?!? It’s ironic in many ways… It’s pure charity.

A big thanks from me to all the fans that has been supporting us through the years, Metal Blade Records for being a super professional label and not least, all the crazy and awesome guys in all the bands we have had the honor to toured with. Cheers!!!!”

More info to come….

Schecter Endorsement

We are proud to announce that we are now officially part of the Schecter Guitars roster of artists!

After being a Schecter ambassador in Sweden for years, it feels really great to finally be a part of the Schecter artist roster. We have always thought that Schecter builds great and very valuable instruments and that they are always delivered with a great setup and action. Both Daniel and Zeb are using the models C-7 Hellraiser or C-7 Blackjack ATX and Tony now plays C-4 Hellraiser bass guitars.

Tony Östman, the new bass player of Aeon

TonyMarcus has decided to leave Aeon permanently to focus more on his other band Souldrainer. Aeon will be having a more busy tour schedule from now on and Marcus feels that Aeon is taking to much of his time. We have been having a guy named Tony Östman as a stand-in for Marcus lately, and he did his first show with us on March 1st at the House Of Metal festival. Tony was also planned to act as a stand-in on the G/A/S Obscura-tour that kicks off tomorrow (March 22). But since Marcus obviously needs a stand-in from time to time to fill his shoes, we and Marcus came to a conclusion that it’s better for him to step down and let Tony take his position permanently. Aeon is not a side project and we need all members to aim at the same goal and to have Aeon as the main band / project. So with this we would like to thank Marcus for his time in the band and we wish him all the best with his future endeavors. And with that being said, lets raise our horns high and welcome Tony Östman on-board as the permanent bass player of Aeon.

Emil Wiksten is from now on the permanent drummer of Aeon

Photo by: Philip Lee VidamourAs we stated a couple of weeks ago, Arttu Malkki decided to take a longer break from the band to focus on his family and their newborn twins. Emil Wiksten (Blood Red Throne) stepped in as temporary replacement for him and did his first stage appearance with us during our recently finished UK/IRE headline tour. Besides being a real nice and easy dude, Emil delivered a killer performance each night and he shows a great deal of passion for his drumming. And with our recently released album Aeons Black,  there is a lot of good things coming our way and we felt that we needed to have a solid lineup where everyone in the band is involved and has the same goal. Aeon really needs to be everyone’s top priority and you can’t obviously expect a temporary drummer to prioritize a band that he is not a member of, so therefor we gave Emil the opportunity to  fill the spot permanently which he gladly accepted.

So with this we would like to thank Arttu for his time in the band and we wishes him all the best with his new family. And now, lets raise the horns and welcome the mighty Emil Wiksten to the Aeon family as our new permanent drummer.

Arttu is taking a brake from Aeon. Stand-in drummer announced

Arttu has decided to take a brake from Aeon. He and his girlfriend are expecting twins in march and he wants to focus on his family at this point. We have no idea on how long this break will be, but there is no need to worry. We have an awesome drummer on our hands that will be replacing Arttu to 100%. This means that we will be touring as planned and take on more tours along the way. So please lets welcome the mighty Emil Wiksten as the current drummer of Aeon. His first stage appearance  with Aeon will be on January 16 in London @ Garage.

To have a sneak peak on his insane drumming, check out this drum cam video from one of our rehearsals the other day.
